A Dark Night: Rough Cut Series 2/4 (Act 1)

“There’s a conflict in every human heart between the rational and the irrational, between good and evil. And good does not always win.”

Part 1 is linked at the bottom of the post, if you’d like to watch that first.

If the above link does not work, try accessing here instead:

I don’t know why I chose such a morbid theme. Honestly it always seems like the themes of these montages find me. Perhaps you can relate.

Delighted I am when they are happy and positive. When sad or scary, as is very much the case with this one, I just buckle up and fight my way through the edit.

I’m only half way through, but if I had to guess I’d say this latest section is the most difficult of the 4. Like part 1, it has to continue to inform the audience about the story, through character exposition. But on top of that, has to show a compelling account of the characters’ slip into madness. Nina from the movie, Black Swan, in particular.

I hope it works, and I’m eager to get your feedback. As with my last post, this is a 2-3 min rough cut of a thematic montage I am currently working on, that I am now ready to share. If you watch, let me know what’s working for you and what’s not, what bothers you. Your thoughts can pertain to anything and everything!

If you’d like to wait to watch when this project is complete and I post the final, I anticipate that to be a neat experience.

If you’d like to watch part 1 to catch up on the story, I’m posting that below.

Thanks for watching / Reading. Hope you have a great weekend, and stay safe.

    1. RR, so great to hear it’s holding your attention. I’m trying some new techniques in this one, none more important than sound mixing. I’d like to thank you for pointing out that some of the dialogue was hard to hear in the 1st section. I have since endeavored to spend a lot more time working on the sound mix for this project – attempting some oringal stereo sound mixing for the first time here. For some reason the stereo sound didn’t output correctly this rough draft, but by the final I expect to have it sounding a lot clearer. Thanks again for watching and commenting 🙌🏼
