I don’t make site changes ‘just cuz.’ Something big just happened in the edit. All these movies franchises, their meticulous plots just converged in an apocalyptic dance number that feels as instinctual as breathing. Still, it came as a total surprise.
Not surprising is that the soundtrack, “Time is a Bomb” (2026) is by my favorite band, Metric. I’ve been itching to feature one of their songs since the beginning. This one is brand new, 10 G’s of intensity, and jump-suited for the occasion.
I’m calling the mashup, “Time is a Bob-Omb.” Fans of Scott Pilgrim will get the reference… “Black Sheep” became Metric’s biggest hit after Brie Larson sang it in Edgar Wright’s comic-book movie… And yes, Super Mario movies are in this mashup (somehow).
This new scene will be available July 4th. It will serve as a preview for the full episode which is now slated for November 5th. Fast forward to EF🎧 bopping head in front of laptop, as a mushroom cloud blooms outside the window.

I immediately understood that “Bob-Omb” reference! 😁 Scott Pilgrim has some of the best fake band songs of any movie I’ve ever seen, and of course one of the best real fake band songs with “Black Sheep”. Or is that a fake band real song? Or a real band fake song? Aargh, too meta to comprehend!

Mm. Been so long. Chained to my desk, captioning. Losing contact with everyone everywhere. I really like that song, tho. It’s very plaintive in places, segueing from energized to almost haunting.
