“Look, we all have a job to do. My job is to protect Riley from the scary stuff she can’t see.” – Anxiety
Riley’s sharp on the ice, but social skills are how she’s going to make varsity. Watching her find them had me woahed like Keanu.
Pete Doctor and Pixar’s little emo mythology might be the single greatest influence on Experience Film. I use it to score, write, color, and to understand cinematic language and life in general. So was I excited to see the sequel? You bet I was.
I made an artist date* out of it several weeks ago. Strolled in to a mellow yellow sunset, sativa vape in hand, brass candy in pocket, sat down and experienced Joy.
I believe this story could be told using only the original five emotions, but Pixar decided to spice it up with a few more.
Riley is on her way to Hockey camp when her besties break the news they are switching schools and thus will soon be separated.

Into psychological headquarters bursts agent orange, Anxiety, followed by her pubescent goon squad: Embarrassment, Envy, and Boredom. Anxiety (Maya Hawke) orders the ‘thought police’ to gag and arrest the fab five, and assumes the switch board in Orwellian fashion.

Anxiety causes Riley to behave tactfully, but awkwardly. Her teammates can feel something is off. As we learned from the first movie, one emotion is not enough, it takes a village. Socialization is the most complex problem there is. Learning to play on a team requires a team. Riley finds hers alone in the penalty box.

it must have worked at the box office for a sequel to be made

The First movie grossed $850 million worldwide; I just looked it up. Better than I thought.

I hope to see this one soon. I’ll try to rewatch the first one before that.

So glad Inside Out 2 made a billion dollars at the box office. Best Pixar sequel outside of the Toy Story franchise (although I do go back and forth between Inside Out 2 and Incredibles 2). Anxiety is something I can really relate to.

Anxiety is relatable for me too. ‘Outside of Toy Story sequels,’ Yep… Incredibles 2 goes hard!👶🦸🏼♂️🦸🏻♀️

I’m thankful that Pixar went down the ‘spice it up route’. I just enjoyed Maya Hawke’s portrayal of anxiety so much. It would be interesting to see how she shows up again in another Inside Out movie because we know it’s coming. 🤓🥳

Anxiety is a hit! Side note, I just realized Maya Hawke is the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke🙃

I have moved cities twice, and both times so I could have access to weed (mostly). It just became legal for recreational here in Ohio this week!.. Flower is still preferred but it sure is convenient having a pen for on the go… BTW I mentioned this concept of “Artist Dates” and I think your mural hunting is like one of the best examples there is!

Ahh!
What a great date idea, for anyone!
Pot is legal all cross Canada. I have 4 weed boutiques on my block. I went to one once.
I have a couple of pals who are legal growers, and I get samples and leftovers for free.
Plus we can grow 3 plants per household.
The weather will be calmer next week, just regular hot, not disgusting hot.
I’ll be out looking for art!

I love Inside Out 2 though the first movie made more of an impact on me, perhaps because I live in MN just like Riley 🙂
“Watching her find them had me woahed like Keanu.” ahah, love this quote!
