Damsel Trailer Torture

DO NOT watch the trailer!

Dear reader, I fear I have mislead you about this movie. In my review when I said I “underestimated it from the trailer” I was referring to the teaser trailer. Until today I had not watched the official trailer that is currently on Netflix. Thank you, Uri for informing me of its existence.

The official trailer is an experience all of its own, for it shows absolutely everything – All the plot twists, all the best scenes, the dragon… Un-believable. People need to be fired for this. “Off with their heads!”

If you plan on watching this movie I repeat, DO NOT watch the official trailer. Only the teaser if you must.

  1. I never did like trailers much. I don’t want to see ANYTHING in the movie before I see it. I understand the need for a commercial for your movie, but you can do it like Deadpool, where Deadpool shows nothing of the film, but has the superhero painting like that PBS guy with the beard and saying softly “You put on some Betty White [paint] here.” It’s snarky and it’s fun — or the trailer for the new Deadpool and Wolverine movie upcoming. It has Deadpool asking Hugh Jackson if he wants to be in the new movie. Going up the stairs in the background, Jackson says unexcitedly “Yeah, sure.” That’s cheeky and gets the message out that this is a new movie coming atcha.

  2. Great post!! I agree with you 100% that SO. MANY. TRAILERS these days reveal too many plot points!!

Un-believable indeed, but I think it’s the marketing dept are often to blame, not just the trailer makers. The studio heads probably have a say as well in what clips to show which are often spoiler-y!! “Off with their heads!” LOL!!

  3. Well, I watched the two clips you shared! I have seen Alice in Wonderland (a great movie), but not the other one, though it looks funny, even if the heads roll!!😉😎 (is it with Austin Powers?)😂🌟🖖

  4. Thanks for the mention! 🤩

I’m just a bit confused about the fact you linked to my Indy review, not the main blog page… It’s all good as any exposure is a welcome one. 😁

Maybe an idea if you could make a list of trailers that spoil the movie to this extent. I used to download and watch all new movie trailers religiously from the 90s (when they were the size of a postage stamp) until about 2010. Superbowl trailers were always a special event. 30 years ago these kinds of spoiler trailers were not common, but slowly things went downhill. Since you like making short videos, this could be an interesting journey.

So I searched my archives and I can’t believe this site still exists! “Watch Movies Trailers, Previews, Teasers and TV Spots for new and classic films. Streaming High Definition trailers from 1931 to 2018. Online since 1997.”

    1. no problemo! And a slight error on my part. I changed the link so it directs to your homepage👍 I enjoy linking to friends’ sites, but I wish more readers followed the links! Attention is hard to steer. Especially when everybody’s attention is weak and frayed.

The day after the oscars this year I linked to another friends’ Oscar post – And about 90% of the engagement happened on my repost, instead of on hers (the original post) Some of my readers even supposed that “I” had written her article! Even though I was clear in both the title and my added description that it was written by another author Lol🤦🏽… I swear, most of the time readers click the like button without reading a word on the page, and move on. I am guilty of doing this SOME times. I never cheat on your site though. Because your articles are so well written. You are an established author and journalist so it’s a treat to read, in your non-native language too. Very Impressive.

      1. You’re so kind. Thank you.
To be honest I used to spend a lot of time on my articles and it shows in quality. Now I have experience so it doesn’t take that much time and googling is much easier than 20 years ago! 😅
I’ll also admit I don’t triple check everything, I follow my gut and just check one or two sources if it doesn’t feel right. I hope to get some feedback from your readers. 😊
