Hope is Like The Sun

Some nights last for years. Centuries, even. How long will this one last?

Knowledge is hope. Knowledge is The Sun. Ancient civilizations such as The Egyptians were very knowledgeable. Europe forgot much after the fall of The Roman Empire; especially during plague years. Doubled down on God and War instead. This period (~5th -14th centuries A.D) is commonly nicknamed “The Dark Age.”

Knowledge isn’t the medicine, but will lead us to the medicine. Last night I spoke with a friend who reads many books, is very knowledgeable. But last night he cursed all books, did not want to discuss any with me. I knew it was because this night he was suffering too greatly to remember the value of knowledge. He will again remember. As certain as the Sun will rise, I assured him. In this metaphor the only thing we don’t know is the when.

Can we control how long our own suffering lasts? Can we hasten the Sun’s rising, so to speak? The answer is of course yesโ€ฆ And of course no. If we are fortunate to have the correct medicine available to us, and If we are well enough to remember to use it. If we love, show compassion for others, and ourselvesโ€ฆ If we have work/life balanceโ€ฆ I’d say yes.

The Greatest Wizard of them all is more confident. “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” -Prisoner of Azkaban (3)

Well, would you look at that? Here comes the sun๐ŸŒ‡๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ณ
