Feat. The Music of Lana Del Rey (In a fan-made music video)
You know THOSE albums? The ones you can no longer separate from a specific place or person? Art is intwined with personal memory. For better or worse. RIP.

Lana Del Rey’s 6th studio album, Norman Fucking Rockwell (2019) is destined to be one of those albums for me. And for my girlfriend too, which she’ll absolutely hate me for saying. But it’s true. We sealed our fate when we listened to it on the journey to our present home of Denver, CO last fall. And when we visited the Norman Rockwell exhibition at the Denver Art Museum this summer. The Music now belongs to the mountains. We offer up a piece of our soul.
So I figured why not go all the way and put some of our footage over it. Becky drew storyboards, helped film, and of course starredπ€© And I edited and directed. No, it’s not set in New York or California, where Lana probably wrote it, and envisioned it. And no, the W Rail line does not extend all the way to the mountains. But that’s the magic of filmmaking, isn’t it?πππ

Thanks! I only incorporated 1 of the 2 verses of the song. But I didn’t want to make it too long, or wordy. The beautiful Rocky Mountains have been a place of refuge for me this year. I feel lucky that I can go there to reset when I get stir crazy from quarantine. Thanks again for watching and commenting! π

π€©Thanks for watching, RR! You know, my gf and I have this running joke going – whenever we have a bad day, she’ll ask, “Why did you drag me out here again (To Denver)?” And I reply: because of Twin Peaks… And the she goes: “But Twin Peaks was filmed in WASHINGTON!!!??” And then I go “Oh crap… Pack your things.” π
