EF: 11.01 — One Battle After Another

Bob: “I need the rendezvous point, you understand what I’m saying? I need it.”
Comrade Josh: “I understand, and the question is “What time is it?”

“This is a low-flying panic attack.”

{ at 8:00pm EST tonight (04/07/26) The POTUS is threatening to plunge 90 million people into total irreversible darkness, and I am not okay with it at all. }

Whether you’ll like this movie probably depends a lot on whether you like the angsty music track above and/or the image below.

Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead composed the score for Thomas Anderson’s (There Will Be Blood) newly crowned Best Picture winner. Radiohead might be my favorite band. But I prefer their early-mid work, especially Ok Computer, where 4/4 is still the rule and not the exception.

I did not enjoy the score of OBAA. In fact, I almost walked out of the theater during a sequence in which a single piano note stabbed at my heart like Norman Bates for no less than 10 straight minutes— to mimic Leo’s anxiety, no I get it. It’s fucking suffocating.

I recoil from the image… Side note: at the time of writing this my government is hours away from committing further war crimes by plunging a nation of 90 million people into literal irreversible darkness. So yeah, I’m a little tweaked at the moment.

The image. It depicts violent revolution as a way of life, and it’s insulting. In my un-humble opinion (on this day), if things are so bad you’re hip-firing a heavy machine gun? Then maybe it’s not the right time to be having children. (Go ahead with your retort).

No one can escape their programming. Just as no one can escape the real-life shitstorm spewing out of America’s asshat president— inventing a global crisis out of nothing (poof🪄) to avoid going to jail for raping children. (Maybe it is that simple, you over-thinker). To make his fucking problem everyone else’s fucking problem. What are ya’ll playing at? You few remaining MAGA boot lickers. ARE WE GREAT YET!? This administration is bringing out the worst in everyone, including filmmakers. Including me, I am a social animal after all.

I have hence trashed this movie. Venting, no disrespect. I admit, part of my dislike might be because the ‘battles’ hit too close to home. Maybe PTA’s vision of my country is more accurate than I care to acknowledge. Falling from grace, into civil-warring third-world status. And darkness. A godless, soulless, toxic tomb of darkness.

Fuck what a sour note to begin the season. At least it’s a note. (Praise Allah).

  1. Hi EF, it may be little comfort but while there are good people like yourself that see the senselessness of all this then there will always be hope that things will change for the better. I am fortunate and have “met” and gotten to know a few Americans and all have been great people – you are one of those. Stay strong.

  2. Your anger is my prayer, and we share the same soul! I suspected this would happen, as I believed the goal of attacking Iran was to erase what’s left after the IRGC’s destruction. Still, I appreciate your unique style, mate. Let’s wait and see what unfolds… let’s wait! 🙄🫤
