Tundra 10: Ice Wall

“Water can carve its way, even through stone. And when trapped, water makes a new path.”

Memoirs Of A Geisha

Kumite Marvel 83′

Winter is Experience Film’s kryptonite, says a decade’s-worth of site data. Thus, I’ve made an informed decision to stagger the release of Episode Two. The first half will release February 3, 2026, with the second half arriving in Spring. While not ideal, I think the decision will ultimately benefit both the project and the mental health of its editor. The new release dates also reflect the season change that occurs in the narrative: Winter –> Spring/Summer.

Quality is most important. And I’m pleased to announce Episode Two will see EF’s highest image and sound quality to date. Thanks to a major recent workflow overhaul. As of this month, December 2025, Experience Film is editing in true 4K ProRes for the first time ever. This means the amount of pixel data in every frame has increased by two full orders of magnitude. Video files that used to be 4GB are now 400GB! No more crushed picture for budget’s sake.

Sound quality is also increasing. I’m now preserving the 5.1 sound mixes from the disks. So anybody with extra speakers should start to notice the difference in the coming years. Eventually I will mix my own sound edits in 5.1 as well. Currently I just do stereo (L/R).
Vouzle-VOUS! Despite being a rhythmic hit!🙌 Is a goner in terms of picture quality— flattened beyond repair. The quality boost will occur immediately after this opening dance scene in the episode.

I’m reading Virginia Roberts Giuffre’s memoir, “Nobody’s Girl” for homework, while also awaiting the December 19 “release” of the Epstein files. Despite there being zero reason to suspect we’re not going to be stonewalled yet again. I would cut my own creative arm off for this to not be the case. No, Experience Film is prepared for the long fight. Sucker Punch AΩ is intended to keep me, and anyone who wants to join in, as audience, as co-creators (start editing!) sane for the remainder of our lives. It’s important to be able to take our own jabs at injustice as we see fit.

We are about six weeks away from Episode 2: Independence Day (Part 1/2). It will arrive just in time for the Winter Olympics, which entirely fits the setting of the rest of the episode— Ice! EF will make his cameo as a comedic ice sculptor🥽🧊 a la Crispin Glover from Hot Tub Time Machine. Winter may be Experience Film’s kryptonite, but that’s never stopped him from admiring the season of bitter discontent. Prepare to “CHILL.” And bring your skates!

  1. Thanks for the update, EF.

    Sorry winter is your kryptonite.

I haven’t seen the weather reports for Cincinnati today. But it seems like the jet stream has been tracking across the north, while we have been having Santa Ana hot and dry.

Glad to hear about your tech upgrade.

Looking forward to getting a taste of that.

      1. Yeah. I hear ya’.

Winter time I watch the Weather report like a hawk.

If it looks like Julian is going to get snow, we stay down at my wife’s condo by SDSU.

Funny, when I was a kid I always hoped the mountains would get snow.

Nowadays, I’d just as soon take a pass.

Last time we got stuck at the cabin for over a week when 2 back to back Gulf of Alaska storms buried us

  2. E.F., alas we are not aligned in that Winter is my cold brew coffee opposed to your Kryptonite. Fall and Winter are my more energetic times of the year, and I love to get out and experience it all…even the 7.5″ of snow we got on Sunday. Way too early for that much in normal times, as we rarely have a White Christmas. We won’t have one again this year because it came a touch too early, but it has enhanced my already-heightened spirit…and I am very much enjoying the wintery countryside…which will become mush by this time tomorrow. The technology upgrade sounds exciting, and I am sure it will keep you energized as well..along with your upcoming “icy” cameo, of course!

    1. Ya know, I’ve been drinking more cold brew lately and it’s giving me energy. Body just wants to hibernate! Good to hear you’re energized; thanks for sharing some of it here. I just visited your site and am envious of the falling snowflakes overlay. Nice one❄️👏

      1. That snow effect is via a plug-in called (of course) WP Snow Effect. Years ago, this effect was offered to everyone who wanted it on WP during the Holidays but then they took it away. I checked for something similar in the available plug-ins area this Fall and found it. You can control the number of flakes, speed, etc. It is pretty cool and, at least for my site, it was as simple as just downloading the plug-in and setting the settings.

    1. Haha— yeah I’m editing this goofy ice-sculpting scene and I just keep thinking, ‘that guy’s me’ trying hard to polish this scene. If I can poke fun of my own flamboyance and attempt at showmanship I will have won the scene I think… There’s a lot of drama happening the scene also, so I doubt the joke will land… But I’m going for it anyways🙂

  3. I’m delighted to see your engagement; it sounds fascinating and proves that Kriptonite will never affect you. You have chosen the right way to resist: water never ceases, even in winter! 🤙✊🖖

Carl Jung said, “The philosophy of the East, although so vastly different from ours, could be an inestimable treasure for us too; but, in order to possess it, we must first earn it.” P.S.: Winter is also my Kryptonite!!🙄😜

  4. I love winter. I’m visiting my family this European winter so I can experience it again. I just hope there’s snow in the Alps.

That video reminded me I really need to rewatch old Van Dam movies as I haven’t seen them since I got more seriously into martial arts.

As for your sabbatical, sometimes you need time to digest and marinate ideas and it sounds like the winter is that time for you! 🙃

    1. Winter with family in the Alps sounds fantastic. I have only experienced the Alps on TV☺️ My parents rode The Orient Express a couple years ago and there was snow in parts of the route.

Glad you liked the Van Dam music video. I watched Bloodsport with a friend last year; it was a good time.

*Digestion and Marination*👍 I am not stuck… Though perhaps, ‘bit off more than I can chew.’ But this is a good thing! We would rather be chewing than hungry, right?😉

Merry Christmas and best wishes to the family. I am excited about your European adventure!🎄🏔️👊🙏

  5. I don’t understand the technicalities but I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. The what do call, background effect had me at first thinking, what’s wrong with my phone 😁, that’s brilliant.

I grew up watching the Kickboxing series and any Van Damme movie, we loved Van Damme and his splits. This brought back fond memories.

You don’t like Winter? Give me the cold anytime. Maybe you should come to the tropics 😀. Look at the bright side, you can have unlimited coffee, if that’s possible. Hopefully, the winter would enhance your creative juices.

  6. Winter is totally here where I live, and it glued my garage door shut with ice, so I couldn’t get my car out. lol. Water and winter are funny things and can take on many forms.
The technicality behind this post is fun.

    Have a great weekend! 😊
