Reality Check (Thank You)

“Exciting!? People are dying out there. I don’t think exciting is the word I’d choose to describe it.” -The President we don’t deserve.

(apparently)

Hello again, seasonal depression. My how I’ve missed you!🤗 (😣)

Vouzle-VOUS! Is only the beginning. The full hour episode is coming first quarter of 2026. It’s called, “Independence Day.” Joy will give way to Sadness, Fear and Anger.

I’ve been in a good mood here the past few months. I’m just so, relieved to finally be able to express some of the collective frustration. And know that I failed many times at that. For the better part of a year I’ve been trying to get this creative fire going again. And if Vouzle-Vous doesn’t seem like frustration? That’s because I’m trying to entertaining you first and foremost.

It’s not all disco party in real life is it? Kinda been one giant shit storm, actually. Since 2020 for sure. Will pay homage to the suffering and loss in the remainder of the episode. There’s a hospital sequence I’m particularly fond of as I’ve lost three close loved ones just this year— both remaining grandparents (paternal) and an artist uncle on my Mom’s side. Not to mention friends of family also. If this Episode is any good, it is because of the soul power they bestowed upon it. And if you are presently suffering, know that my heart goes out to you too.

Exciting!?

Amidst the suffering there will also be more Joy this episode. At least one other scene has the potential to outshine the opening ceremony. What a ceremony it has been! I’ve rejoiced in learning this dance number made friends smile.

From the bottom of my heart, Thank you. For your continued support and encouragement. For being my audience. You know I pour my heart and soul into my reviews and montages. I’m giving you everything I got here! And you give me the support I need in return to feel a sense of purpose and to keep creating. Right near the top of the list of things I am most grateful for— You Are! Well wishes, friend. And have a wonderful weekend.

Experience Film😇 (🛸🌃😱)🙏😌

  1. Yeah I feel like somewhere along the line in 2019-2020, somebody important forgot the last word of “klaatu barada nikto” while reading a scary book in an old graveyard and since then everything has been going sideways …

  2. It is nearing that time of year when we will be reminded to give thanks for what we are grateful for. This message makes me smile, and reminds me to give thanks even more so than the calendar will soon. Have a great weekend, E.F.😊

      1. I just read a review of that special and it sounds great. They apparently have some never before seen outtakes/footage included with the interviews. Sounds great, and I am gonna watch it as well.😊

  3. Your blog is not only a source of joy and a way to brighten our daily routines; it is also wise and insightful. I am truly glad to have connected with you, my friend. 🤗🖖
However, ‘exciting’ isn’t quite the right word!😏
PS: Is that Data? I am not familiar with that movie!

    1. “I’m givin’ it all she’s got, Captain!” -Scotty😅 🙌🖖

Ohh, Yes! Haha I just realized there are two Star Trek references in this post. Yes the actor, Brent Spiner is Data. This clip is from the movie, Independence Day (1996)👍

      1. Ah! I watched that film at the time, and I must remark that I noticed several errors made by the so-called stage manager. 😁 However, I never compare it with Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind!😅🤙

  4. Oh my, I’m so sorry you lost three close loved ones in a single year, esp grandparents! I was raised by my grandma and losing her hit me very hard, though it’s been more than 2 decades. Thanks for still wanting to entertain us and bring us joy, E.F.! I love that we can bring light and levity to each other in the blogosphere, I sure am glad I’ve found your blog!! Keep on keeping on, my friend!!

  5. I know so many of your commenters I don’t know how I didn’t find you earlier. I’m sorry to hear about the sad losses. Life really sucks sometimes, but you clearly have a strong community here rooting for you every step of the way.

    1. I thought the same when I read your Rush Hour 3 post and saw familiar faces in the comments Haha. Thank you🙏 I am doing well. I am mostly healthy right now and that is so rare it seems. I am grateful. Lots of people are sick and suffering.

  6. So sorry you’ve had so much loss and how tough things have been recently. This time of the years can be a bit of a drudge as the night draw in. Finding a creative outlet and flow can be tough enough under normal circumstances. My mum passed away during the pandemic and I’m still getting my head around that TBH. Take care, stay strong, and sending you al our best wishes.

  7. Wow EF,

didn’t know 2025 was such a shit show for you personally.

    Sorry for your losses 😔

So, you got something BIG planned for this nation’s 250th Bday? (If it doesn’t implode before then).

I am imagining the happy ABBA dance is going to take a turn for the Dark…

If your looking for some Dystopian themed near future American film clips for your montage, might I suggest the

‘What kind of American are you?’ scene from Civil War.

Not the greatest movie overall. But that scene with Jesse Plemons as the radical Maga Proud Boy toting the AR15, stole the whole movie.

If you are going for an American flag upside down kind of theme, that clip is a must see.

    1. Thank you🙏 I’m healthier than I’ve been in years so I’m actually feeling pretty stoked about that… I grieved for my grandparents a lot before they passed, had a head start, if you will. Uncle hurt, yeah.

Suppose I do🤤 Though honestly forgot it was 250! Wow! “Happy birfday, ‘Merica.”

Saw Civil War; that’s a good scene👍 Movie was alright but Hey! If California and Texas ever team up that would be a serious flex for Alex garland😅

  8. So, like you, this time of year has a down effect on me (and most people)

I’ve lost several family and friends this year – from drowning to heart attacks to cancer. I feel your pain and stress.

All I can do is wallow in the arts. Yay!!!

    ARTS

This includes what you do with films.

Sending my best for the 30 days ahead, until the days begin getting longer again! (and after that too, but the next 30 days are the toughest)

    ☀️🌞✨🌟

    1. You def can relate— I’m sorry for your losses. Sending you positive vibes to make it through this dark of the year. We got a good thing going here with our art. You’ve got multiple forms of art to inspire. Mural hunting has the added benefit of getting you out for sun and exercise— I have to remember to leave my house sometimes! Well wishes, my friend. Keep inspiring✍🏼👘😎
