A Crouching Tiger Trailer👊🏼🐯

The drought is OVER! Here is a first look at EF’s new movie (Out August 14). Inspired heavily by Everything Everywhere All at Once (obviously). It’s basically going to be the same mother vs. daughter plot, but from a new angle, with B plot and plenty of fun surprises along the way.

Can you name the movies!? There are 8 in the trailer. About double that in the full version. Music by Pat Benatar, and Son Lux (more in the full🕺🏽).

Here it is! Available in 4k. Best experienced in stereo🎧

      1. Apart from Bruce Lee’s movies (like Enter the Dragon) and Akira Kurosawa’s masterworks, I have seen many of that kinds, some good ones and some cheap ones in which they were flying through the air like kites (though we watched them with friends and had a lot of fun). One series I can remember was around using Iron Faust. 😉😊🤟

  1. I can’t name any of the movies. I’ve recently watched IP Man, Furies, and Mat Kilau, but I don’t recognize any of those films in this montage. But I’m new to the genre. I really liked IP Man. The other two were, meh, okay.

    1. Not the “kung-fu” lineup people would expect. Several movies here aren’t kung fu at all actually. I like to mix everything… I’ve heard IP Man is amazing. That’s director / choreographer, Yuen Woo-Ping who choreographed the fights in 2 of the movies here in this trailer: The Matrix, and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Absolute legend.

Any standout shots/scenes for you from IP Man? I haven’t seen it yet, and I’m actually going to be putting together an end credits section for this featuring “Kung Fu fighting” the song, and I’m trying to pair it with shots from the established Kung Fu Heavy Hitters. IP Man is def on my list to include, but I’m not settled on any one shot yet. Donnie Yen is badass. Also trying to include Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Jean Claude Van Damme.

      1. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the fight scenes in IP Man. There’s one scene that’s a bit humorous, that stands out in my memory. It’s where the hero is fighting some badass dude in his house, when his little kid comes into the room. They both stop and wait for the kid to leave, then resume fighting.

I think “Kung Fu Fighting” is a great choice. I love that song.

      2. I’ve been jamming to that song on repeat lately. Thanks for the rec! A little humor would pair well with the song. I’ll look for that scene. If I can’t make it fit then I’ll choose a pure action scene from IP and take some humor from other movies.

      3. Great! I think there are actually four IP movies. The original and then three sequels. The sequels are on Netflix, and I’m trying to find the time to watch them.

  2. From those already mentioned (Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Matrix, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) I spotted also Wonder Woman, Sucker Punch, and The Last Samurai. Can’t identify the WW movie and looks like one more is missing. Unless it’s one of the other Matrix movies. 😀

    1. Very good, and thanks for watching, Master Uri!👊🏼🙏🏼🥋 I’m updating the post to reflect some of your identifications but not all, as I want to give other people more time. The other 2 are brief appearances by Kung Fu Panda 2 (The ship explosion leading into the title sequence). And the WW movie is All Quiet On The Western Front – a complete mismatch with the theme😆 but I wanted to keep it since it’s a new movie that won a lot of awards this year. And ties in with the Wonder Woman no man’s land scene.

      1. Kung Fu Panda trilogy is a solid representation of the martial art spirit. I enjoyed it a lot. The other one is on my never ending watchlist. 😅

  3. Very good job Experience Film! Other people said the movies already, but I’ll still say that I caught Everything Everywhere All at Once, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Wonder Woman, The Matrix, All Quiet on the Western Front, The Last Samurai, and Sucker Punch.

P.S. Do you like Sucker Punch? I have very mixed thoughts on the movie.

    1. Thanks a ton, my friend. Been working on this for several months now. Feels good to finally have something to show for the hundreds of hours of work😅🥵 You nailed the movies! The only one people didn’t get is Kung Fu Panda 2, which isn’t really fair on my part cuz it’s only a ship exploding right before the title flash about a minute in. But more Panda will be in the full🐼

Sucker Punch is an interesting case isn’t it. For me it’s the visuals that make me a ‘sucker’ for it. It’s so montage-able. In fact, I’ve been trying to montage with this Pat Benatar song for 5 years now. And the first time I tried, 5 years ago, Sucker Punch was a major player. Get this, that first draft featured these movies: Sucker Punch, Pearl Harbor, Resident Evil Extinction, and Hacksaw Ridge. And a few others I forget. But I shelved it until this year. Sucker Punch has just stuck around, in my crazy head at least😄 What are your thoughts about it?
Oh, and Wonder Woman was in that first draft as well.

      1. Sounds like an interesting process. I was 15 when Sucker Punch came out. So I was the exact demographic that it was trying to appeal to. I ended up seeing it in theaters by myself, because the trailer looked cool. I still stand by it being my second favorite trailer of all time behind Zack Snyder’s other polarizing film Watchmen. My expectations were a little too high and I ended up being disappointed. The 4 action sequences are cool and I can’t resist badass girls in sexy outfits, but it just feels pointless to the rest of the story. The mental hospital/brothel stuff felt unnecessarily hopeless. I’m still not sure what the message was supposed to be, but I think Snyder should stick with adaptations. His next movie Rebel Moon is also original, so I have no idea what to expect from that.

P.S. Just look at this trailer and tell me you wouldn’t be pumped to see it:

      2. HOLYY SHITTT!!!🤯 I completely forgot about this trailer. Oh yeah you were a goner at 15😂🤣 I was 20 but still a virgin so no better off lol. I can see why it’s your second favorite. What’s your first fav?.. Zeppelin’s “When The Levee Breaks” into Silversun Pickups’ “Panic Switch” (I love them). The editing is incredible. What a dream.

  4. That was great. It put a smile on my face for a while as it played. Great editing. I particularly enjoyed the different heads tilting to the right and up again. I thought about pausing the video to pinpoint precisely when that happened but I was having to much fun to hit pause. I see you getting picked up to edit something important in no time… assuming that’s what you want. 🙂
