“One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.”
-Master Oogway (Kung Fu Panda)

Tiger is a metallic autumn (pseudo Chinese mythology) And as the new season arrives here in the Northern hemisphere, so too does a new chapter of life. Scene break is more apropos… It’s not like I am moving to fucking Thailand. Simply starting a new job in my hometown. And it’s the chef’s kiss of cosmic comedy – bartending high energy concerts as a social avoidant. (Shrugs) I’ve done worse. Jung said the artist’s life is necessarily filled with conflict. Which is why I begged the angels to align my prime years with late stage capitalism.
This summer was the worst to date. Worldwide, and personally. I don’t feel I deserved it, but who am I to judge. Spent the first half lying facedown on the floor crippled from my last job. Prone was the only posture that didn’t make every heartbeat intolerably excruciating. The doctors had no idea, leaving me to self-diagnose – lactic acid poisoning from prolonged over-exertion and rapid muscle loss, endangering vital organs like the heart. My pee smelled like death. This is why workers unions are essential. I didn’t have one at Amazon. Then I got Covid for the 3rd time despite receiving as many doses of the vaccine. Been watching the world burn ever since. Working odd jobs throughout to stay afloat. Food delivery, pet sitting, etc. Now bartending.
My good friend got me this job, and I am grateful. It’s a classy gig. I like my co-workers and bosses. It’s one of the “good companies” my father assured me there are. I think I’ve made a good showing so far, helped out the team. Going to continue putting my best foot forward and gathering experiential material for the next montage. More on that later!
It’s quite surreal coming off a summer like the one I just described straight into a perfectly beautiful concert held on two clear days and cool crisp nights. Thousands of affluent hipsters wearing impeccably styled bohemian outfits. Stripes are in btw. Such an occasion makes it easy to forget the world is ending. That’s what the night is good for. Abandonment of cares and reason in favor of narcissistic ecstasy. Of equal value as the productive day. Bipolar beastly deities we are.

Congratulations on the job! I hope you enjoy it, and it leads you down a path of continued and growing success.
The workplace can be brutal, so I understand your advocacy for unions. I was once very involved in a union. It was a very effective union at fighting back against management brutality, but it too could be brutal. And I mean brutal on its own members. Union politics can be just as cutthroat as the politics we see in Washington. It kind of left me disillusioned.

hey, congrats on the new gig
capitalism is a B but as you know, we all have to play it. maybe AI can fix that?
but more importantly, i’m sending good vibes your way. just stay on that boat – high tide is sure to come

Vibes received😎 Thanks! AI *should* help, in theory. On the Eric Weinstein podcast I shared recently, they talk about being at a “precipice” right now as a society. The path to prosperity has narrowed to a dangerous point, but if we can cross this dangerous point a lush green meadow lay on the other side. Or high tide, as you say. Democratization of A.I., / profit sharing are important steps to crossing this hurdle many believe.

Was just watching some of The Screaming of the Lambs.
Why that one? Because I know the main movie it’s named after.
I have to come back when I have more time. I like what I saw and heard.
Sorry to hear about the dreaded Covid nabbing you 3 times.
Do you only post the Mash-Ups on your montages page?
I think you should post them in regular posts. See how many likes you get and read the comments. Perhaps you already do, and I just haven’t been here enough.
You can put them on your Montages page later.
I loathe Amazon. I’ve been boycotting them for over 9 years. I look forward to my 10th anniversary.
Take care!

Good choice I like that one. Plus, it’s spooky season👻 – Editing has helped me realize just how brilliant these movies are. Like Silence.
I do release each new video with a celebratory post once☝️ But these are rare events of late. I have only had 2 new montages to release in as many years. One was a feature, so very time consuming.

It is massively time consuming.
Have you considered a career in editing?
What about making some Montages that are only 1-2 minutes long.
Condense your thoughts and ideas. It could be even better. People will watch short pieces. Anything over 2 minutes, people might not have time for, even though they’d like to.

Good ideas! I Have considered editing professionally, I have degrees in psychology, business and film, which you’d think would help… but I feel it’s just too competitive. Besides I wouldn’t be happy even if I broke into the industry by some miracle. This blog is my Goldilocks region where I receive just enough recognition, but most importantly have absolute control and freedom over my work. That makes me happy!
Those are very good ideas! Yes people are very busy, which many bloggers underestimate I think. I would like to get back to making shorter montages in addition to the occasional longer ones. It really is a win win in many regards.

Glad to hear about the new job. I too am a big supporter of unions… so long as they don’t become their own corrupt entities. The reality is that large institutions are by their very structure sociopathic entities. At best, they’re harmless. At worst, they become vehicles for the expression of psychopathic leadership.
Making money versus selling you soul… that’s the Capitalist conundrum… which leaves the individual more “freedom”? I chose the latter in my twenties. Thailand was actually a pretty good restorative.
